The Kakuma News is an independent news website run by a diverse group of bloggers and Journalist in Kakuma Refugee Camp, Kenya. It is a fully independent refugee-run news source of its kind to emerge from a refugee camp.
Our mission is to inform and to educate as we tell our stories. Therefore, we produce in-depth reports, publications, and videos on various issues. Our reports and publications are meant for the public and are of particular use to policy analysts.
Our vision is to create the first truly independent refugee-run media platform that transcends borders, beliefs, and backgrounds, that provides a plurality of perspectives, that fosters real debate, that tells the refugees story behind the story, and that involves you in a meaningful global conversation.
What do we do?
Kakuma News publishes content on a daily basis. Our focus is on issues that really matter to refugees and host community in Kakuma Refugee Camp, be it environmental challenges or entertainment, economic trends or humanitarian crises or social movements.
